- The Simien is an
area of highland country in the northern part of Ethiopia.
It constitutes one of the major mountain massifs in Africa
including the second highest mountain in Africa-The Ras
Dashen, which is 4620m high. The national park is located to
the north of Gondar and east of the main road to Axum. It
covers an area of 254 square kilometers. Commonly known as
the roof of Africa, it is the most marvelous of all
Ethiopian landscapes. It is gazetted as a national park in
1969 and now has been declared a world heritage site by

valley is a part of the Great Rift Valley start from the
dead Sea of Persia via Eastern Africa to the Tip of
Mozambique. The seven rift valley lakes are the home of
Eastern Africa bird species and the recreational center.
Founded in the 17th century Harar is one of Ethiopian oldest
Islamic city. Bale region is one of Ethiopia's highest
plateaus with plenty of Afro Alpine plant species and
considered as the 'home of Endemism' for its diversified

16 is wholly restricted to Ethiopia and thus are endemic. 14
